Gain a practical understanding of the anatomy, physiology, and pathophysiology behind the assessment and treatment of traumatic, environmental, and medical problems. Learn online and at your own pace through multimedia presentations, the Wilderness Medicine Handbook, case studies, SOAP Notes, and tests. With the global increase in natural disasters—earthquakes, violent storms, wildfire, rising sea levels, etc.—and novel infectious diseases, it's more important now than ever before to have a working knowledge of basic medical theory and concepts.
This 75+ hour course is designed for anyone who has internet access and wants to learn how to care for themselves and their loved ones when physician assistance is unavailable. This includes:
This course contains technical terminology as well as complex explanations of concepts. Students who are English language learners or who have certain learning disorders sometimes find the curriculum overly challenging.

- Those who live remotely.
- Those who wish to be prepared for a natural disaster—flood, severe storm, earthquake, wildfire, etc.—when the 911 system and hospitals are overwhelmed or unavailable.
- Preppers.
- Honors high school students looking for home-school credits or an applied science course. This is great introductory course for those interested in pursuing a career in medicine as a medic, nurse, PA, or physician.

This course does not include certification in wilderness or remote medicine; however, if you score greater than or equal to 80% on the final exam you may be eligible to register for the Part 2 practical session of any of the following certification courses:
- Wilderness First Aid
- Wilderness Advanced First Aid
- Wilderness First Responder
During and after the course you will have access to the skill videos on our public YouTube channel. You can purchase lab kits that contain the equipment necessary to practice specific treatment skills, like wound cleaning and splinting. You can also purchase complete first aid kits from our webstore, or supplies to build your own.

Tuition is $275 and includes a copy of our Wilderness Medicine Handbook, access to the course website, online tests, our patient SOAP notes, and one personalized Zoom Q&A session with a WMTC instructor after the first final exam. You have access to the course website and the online exams for one year from the time you register for the course. You may extend website and exam access for $50 per year.
